Alex is 2 (Months)!
Our little man is 2 months old now, leaving mommy and daddy wondering where the time has gone. When we look at him, it’s hard to see the same little newborn we brought home from the hospital.

Alex is now smiling wildly (he’s trying really hard to laugh), making all kinds of noise, sitting up (with a little help from mom and dad), and sleeping through the night (we’re calling 5:00 a.m. through the night).
He loves to sit in his Bumbo chair, lay on his mat and swing at the hanging toys, and he especially likes seeing himself in the mirror. He’s trying really hard to get his thumb in his mouth, settling for his whole fist most of the time. It’s really funny to watch because after about 5 minutes of trying, he gets frustrated and starts screaming.
He’s starting to pay attention to books when we read them. We recently bought The Very Hungry Caterpillar, which has some bright pictures in it. We can get through that one without him losing interest, so we assume that means he likes it. He’s getting better about tummy time – he still gets mad after only a few minutes – but we encourage him to tolerate it by putting the mirror in front of him.
He had to get his first shots at the doctor the other day. It was a horrific experience. As soon as the needle descended deep into his thigh, the scream machine turned on. He screamed so hard that there was that long pause before any noise actually came out. Even mommy cried when she heard him wail. After a few minutes though, he was able to be soothed and seems no worse for the wear. He’s now 11lbs., 8oz., and 23 inches long…both right at the 50th percentile. That doesn’t mean that he’s perfectly mediocre either, especially given that he started off sorta small.
If all that isn’t enough, Alex is about to have his first Thanksgiving in a few days. He already called the last piece of pumpkin pie.
